dvp.gif (8340 bytes)There was a bug in the chipset for this particular model of DVD player from Sony that cannot play CDX (CD Extra)*. This was discovered when customers complained that they could not playback the second disc of George Michael's latest album "Ladies and Gentlemen, Introducing George Michael" . Ironically, this album was produced by Epic (which belongs to Sony Music). Talk about not testing all your hardware with all your software.

Anyway, Sony has admitted to that there was a problem with the chipset, and would provide a free upgrade for its customers. So guys make sure you bring along your George Michael CD when you buy a new DVD player. New stocks should not have this problem anymore.

* CD Extra is also called a multisession CD where there is data stored after the CD Audio tracks, which enables the producer to add a music video or artist profile, or anything else which can be read by a computer CD rom.
